Fistographs
Back in 2005, my brother approached me about collaborating on a suite of photographs -- he had an idea that combined my interest in images that are self-referential to the medium of photography and his interest in sculpting (see his "snow sculpture" paintings) . The resulting images are what we're calling, "Fistographs." These are camera-less images created in a photographic darkroom, made using a flashlight or a florescent tube of light and 8"x10" sheets of film. The film is simply crushed in the hand, and the flashlight is scanned all around our crushed fists holding the film. Resulting are color photographs containing reds from the blood of our hands, yellow or blue from the color temperature of the light used, and our fingerprints all over the image.
